- *SYS_EXIT
-
- » Exiting to DOS «
-
- If you answer [Y] to confirm exit to DOS, you will
- end up in the computer's Disk Operating System.
- DOS contains low-level functions which allow you to
- run programs, create directories, delete files, etc.
-
- Since you effectively have DOS access at any time thru
- PowerMenu's Window to DOS [F4], you will probably
- never need to actually EXIT PowerMenu.
-
- If you need to do some quick DOS commands, we
- recommend using the Window to DOS rather than exiting.
-
-
- *SYS_DELETE
-
- » Deleting a Selection «
-
- If you answer [Y] to confirm deletion, you will
- blank out all information for this menu choice.
-
- If the selection contains the name of a submenu, the
- submenu itself will NOT be deleted. You can call up
- a submenu from any selection by specifying its name.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- *SYS_ADDMENU
-
- » Creating a New Submenu «
-
- Answering [Y] confirms creation of a new submenu.
- A new menu will be referenced by the name you have
- given it, and can be called from any other menu.
-
- Each new submenu will occupy about 1.8Kb of disk
- space. If you need to list or delete submenus, use
- the utility SUBMENU.EXE included with your PowerMenu
- system disk.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
- *SYS_SWAP
-
- » Swapping Selections «
-
- With this function, you can SWAP an item with
- any location on the menu by using the [] and
- [] keys.
-
- The highlighted selection will be in the new menu
- location, and the previous one will be swapped with
- the old.
-
- When you're ready to confirm a swap, hit the
- ─┘ key.
-
- Hitting [Esc] aborts the any swap operation.
- }
- *UTIL_MAINH
-
- » PowerMenu Utilities «
-
- The utilities menu gives you access to many of
- PowerMenu's more advanced features.
-
- To select a item, move the highlighted bar with
- [] and [] and hit ─┘, or hit the first letter
- of the desired selection. [Esc] will return you
- to your previous User Menu.
-
- Detailed help for each function can be obtained by
- hitting [F1] when the selection is highlighted.
-
-
- }
- *UTIL_SYSIN
-
- » PowerMenu System Information «
-
- This selection causes PowerMenu to do a hardware
- check of your system. On the screen, you will see
- an 'inventory list' of equipment, memory, options,
- etc. which are present on your machine.
-
- System information is particularly useful when
- installing new piece of software/hardware, as it
- allows you to see if your PC has the minimum system
- requirements needed to support it.
-
-
-
- }
- *UTIL_RAMST
-
- » PowerMenu RAM Status «
-
- PowerMenu will check the system RAM to determine how
- much RAM is installed, used, and available.
-
- The number of bytes available tells you how much
- memory your applications program will have when
- it has been invoked by PowerMenu. It does not
- reflect the memory which is temporarily used
- by PowerMenu's core program, MENU.OVL.
-
-
-
-
- }
- *UTIL_DISKS
-
- » PowerMenu Disk Manager «
-
- This function gives you complete control over
- your disks, directories, and files.
-
- Normally purchased as a separate PowerMenu option,
- detailed instructions are available in the
- accompanying DiskMan (tm) documentation.
-
-
-
-
-
-
- }
- *UTIL_PRINT
-
- » PowerMenu Printer Status «
-
- This function will display the status of the default
- list device.
-
- This is a very handy way to find out why your printer
- is or is not printing. In most cases, the printer
- status window should say "On Line", which means that
- it is ready to accept info from the computer.
-
- If the window says something like "Out of Paper",
- "Disconnected", "Off Line", etc., then you can adjust
- your printer accordingly.
-
- }
- *UTIL_MAPOF
-
- » Map of Resident Processes «
-
- The map utility will search your system RAM and look
- for resident programs. Popular resident programs
- include Homebase, Sidekick, Keyworks, and many others,
- all of which are fighting for control of your keyboard.
-
- With this function, you can see which programs are
- currently loaded and in what order. Incompatibilities
- may be overcome by reloading these programs in a
- different order.
-
- PowerMenu, incidentally, is not truly RAM-resident,
- because it unloads itself upon Exit to DOS.
- }
- *UTIL_TIMES
-
- » Setting the Time «
-
- You can set the system time with this function.
- Simply enter the time in 24 hour format in the form
-
- hh:mm:ss
-
- Examples: 4:15pm is 16:15:00 ─┘
- 8:45am is 08:45:00 ─┘
- 8:45pm is 20:45:00 ─┘
-
- This sets time for your current session, but will not
- permanently change time on clock/calender cards.
-
- }
- *UTIL_DATES
-
- » Setting the Date «
-
- You can set the system date with this function.
- Simply enter the date in the format
-
- mm/dd/yy
-
- Examples: Jan 14, 1987 is 01/14/87 ─┘
- Nov 21, 1988 is 11/21/88 ─┘
- Dec 25, 1990 is 12/25/90 ─┘
-
- This sets date for your current session, but will not
- permanently change the date on clock/calender cards.
-
- }
- *UTIL_DOSWN
-
- » PowerMenu DOS Window «
-
- This utility opens up a full-screen window which
- allows you to talk to your computer at the DOS level.
-
- Your DOS environment (PATH, PROMPT, etc.) is restored,
- and any DOS command may be entered.
-
- If you need to do some DOS commands, we recommend
- using this Window to DOS rather than Exiting to DOS.
- The RAM overhead is less than 5Kb, and much less time
- is needed to restart PowerMenu.
-
- To return to PowerMenu from Window to DOS, type 'exit'.
- }
- *UTIL_COLOR
-
- » Setting your PowerColors «
-
- The Colors utility permits changes to your PowerMenu
- color setup.
-
- Use [] and [] to select the desired item and change
- the FOREGROUND color by hitting the [+] and [-]
- keys. This will increase/decrease the foreground
- colors. BACKGROUND colors are changed in the same
- way, but you must hold down the [Shift] key with the
- [+] and [-].
-
- You may have to exit and restart PowerMenu to see your
- new colors.
- }
- *UTIL_OPTIO
-
- » Setting your PowerOptions «
-
- You can customize PowerMenu to your particular needs
- by enabling/disabling certain PowerMenu options.
-
- Use [] and [] to select the desired item and toggle
- the option with the [+] and [-] keys. If the Screen
- Save option is decreased to 0, Screen Save will be
- disabled.
-
- If you specify an Options Password, you will need to
- enter this password before you can access the Options
- Menu.
-
- }
- *UTIL_EXITU

-
- » Maximum Number of Menus «
-
- Although you can create as many submenus as you want,
- only FOUR User Menus are allowed on the screen at one
- time.
-
- This is not really a limitation, as this allows for
- over 10,000 applications, all only a few keystrokes
- away.
